Both NBC and ABC will pre-empt regular programs for coverage of the Jackson story. NBC will show a special, “Michael Jackson, The King of Pop,” at 10 p.m.

ABC News will show a special edition of “20/20″ at 9 p.m. called “Michael Jackson, a Man and His Music.” ABC’s late-night news program “Nightline” will also focus on Mr. Jackson with Martin Bashir, who conducted one of the most talked-about interviews with the singer, as the anchor.
